FAQ
Do Ortles Liod socks make your feet sweat?
No, polypropylene is a highly breathable and hydrophobic fiber, meaning it moves moisture away from the skin and toward the outside, helping keep your feet dry even after many hours of walking, working, or physical activity. This is precisely why they are so popular among people who suffer from cold or sweaty feet.
Are they suitable for summer use?
Yes. Although they provide pleasant protection from the cold, they are not "heavy" socks like traditional winter socks. Their excellent breathability makes them suitable for year-round use, especially with sneakers and sports footwear for light trekking.
Do they help prevent blisters and chafing?
Yes. By keeping the feet drier, they help reduce one of the main causes of blisters during walking, trekking and sports activities. In addition, the soft and uniform fabric minimizes friction in high-stress areas.
Do they lose their shape or performance after many washes?
No. When washed according to the care instructions, they retain their elasticity, colour and technical properties over time. Polypropylene is a fiber that is particularly resistant to wear and frequent washing.
Why choose socks made from 100% polypropylene?
Many technical socks use polypropylene only as reinforcement in the toe and heel areas. Ortles, however, is made entirely from technical polypropylene to maximize its benefits throughout the entire sock: consistent breathability, rapid drying, greater durability, and lasting comfort.
Are they suitable for people who suffer from cold feet?
Yes. The secret is not simply keeping the feet warm, but keeping them dry. When sweat remains in contact with the skin, it increases the sensation of cold. Polypropylene helps keep feet dry and comfortable for many hours.
Can I use them for mountain trekking?
Yes. They are ideal for light trekking, hiking, travel, and walking. For more demanding activities or use with heavy boots (such as safety footwear), we recommend considering the Adamello LIOD model as well.
Do they really dry quickly?
Yes. Polypropylene absorbs very little moisture compared to traditional fibers. This means that after washing, the socks dry very quickly, making them perfect for travelers, students, and multi-day trekking adventures.
Do they retain unpleasant odors?
No. LIOD polypropylene is antibacterial and does not generate the unpleasant odors commonly associated with polyester. Because LIOD polypropylene does not absorb moisture like many other fibers, it helps maintain a fresher feeling throughout the day. For maximum comfort and hygiene, we still recommend washing the socks regularly after use.
Are they too thick for sneakers?
No. In fact, they are ideal. Ortles LIOD is a medium-weight sock that provides pleasant thermal protection without feeling bulky. It is perfect for both sneakers and lightweight hiking shoes.
