History

For almost 40 years, one mission: to stay warm and dry

Liod was born in the mountains to solve a real problem: staying warm at all times while avoiding that damp-on-the-skin feeling that forces you to change immediately.

It all started with a simple question:

Why does technical underwear get wet… and then make you feel cold?
In the 1980s, Engineer Fernando Scotti began studying a different solution: a better, highly technical fabric capable of being both warm and water-repellent.

The breakthrough: polypropylene

In 1986, he presented a pioneering study on polypropylene fiber, a revolutionary material that:

  • repels liquids
  • stays dry at all times
  • keeps the body warm

This is where it all began.

First testing, then the product

The first Liod garments were not launched directly onto the market.
They were tested in extreme conditions: high-altitude expeditions in low temperatures, excursions in hot and humid environments, and even tropical climates.
Only after testing it was possible to prove they really worked… and only then, they were launched and made available to customers.

A brand born from passion

In 1989, Liod was founded: a name connected to the mountains, animals (Alaskan Malamute) and extreme nature.
It’s not fashion. It’s not a trend. It’s about performance.
The same performance that lets you start your day wearing a Liod Abaska shirt and return home without needing to change, because it’s still dry, thermal, and flawless.
